Journalism in India
I found an antidote to a long chunk of freelancing at Ogilvy by flying off to India and helping out Felix and Gayatri, two roving journalist friends, with their ongoing story about child labour in Bangalore. Totally pro-bono but a great learning curve in shooting in foreign environments with just the bare essentials.
While their story didn't get picked up that year as a standalone piece they continue to go back each year following the NGO that is helping children who have to work to sustain their family stand up for themselves against dogmatic police and unscrupulous employers. Check out their online piece about International Child Labour Day, and their work for Al-Jazeera English
Because this is a longer term project for Felix and Gayatri, the footage I contributed hasn't been edited into anything coherent or finished yet, but I hope to post some highlights here at some point.
